Sally Hansen New Product Review Part III - Pampering Products for Feet

Sally Hansen has been the focus the past two days, with a rundown of their newest products for Nails, and also their beauty tools.  But now that Summer is really here, you're going to be focusing on another body part as well:  your feet.

Salon pedicures are pampering but can be expensive and time consuming but ugly feet are a definite fashion don't.  So Sally Hansen has some products to help you DIY at home, easily and quickly.

The first thing you need to do to deal with feet, is to get rid of dry skin and callouses.  Sally Hansen has a variety of products to accomplish this including a Prep Your Pedi Smooth Kit, and Ceramic Stone & Brush.  One side has a soft brush to clean nails, the other, the tough stuff--a take-no-prisoners, pumice stone The easy to handle prices range from $5.49 - $10.99

Other Pedicure essentials include Revitalizing Foot Soak, Pumice Foot Polish, and Moisturizing foot crème (all $6.99 each). Callus Foot Softener; Cracked Heel Repair Crème; Overnight Heel Repair, and Softening Callus Foot Spray. These Pedi-Care solutions are just $7.99 each.  They arrive in lavender scent and in nice white, black and orange packaging, all with flip top lids that make it easy for one-handed use (The Revitalizing Foot Soak comes in a spray can).

I don’t usually think of Sally Hansen for hair removal, but they have got some stellar, new products that will make you reach for Sally Hansen when you’re pondering what to get in the store. While Sally Hansen Hair removal wax strips is their hidden gem and #1 product, one that's brand new is the Simple Spa Wax Warmer Kit-- really nifty!! For starters, Simple Spa Wax Warmer for Face and Body by Sally Hansen is a plug in hair removal waxing system warms in it’s own container, at a consistently level, so you don’t need to run to a microwave to use it. Strip-less wax is cleaner and easier to use, and the wax is infused with green tea to reduce irritation.  The unit is just $9.99 (way less than a spa visit) and even comes with a wax  refill. If heating wax and putting it on your skin just doesn’t appeal to you, sally Hansen makes a number of chemical depilatories.  The newest is Brush On In Shower Remover. This unique product comes in a tube, with a brush top so you never have to touch the stuff inside.  While no depilatory is completely odorless, this one has Sally Hansen’s Fresh Scent Technology and it’s formulated with Vitamin E, Chamomile and aloe, to keep your skin not only free of unwanted hair, but smoother and moisturized, too.  There are two formulas:  Normal to Sensitive Skin, and Extra Strength for coarse hair that doesn’t give up without a fight.  Both make the chore of hair removal, much faster, easier and more pleasant. The best part?  They’re only $7.99 with enough for several treatments.  Tip:  I admit I am not a fan of leg makeup or bronzers, so I didn't try this product, personaly, but you can add some color and make legs look sleeker, longer, and more perfect with a can of Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs. This leg makeup comes in four colors from light to deep.  Wonder why Kim Kardashian's legs always look so great?  This . It covers up blemishes, veins, bruises, bites, blotches -- you really can’t go wrong.

I don’t know why , exactly, but there is something so compelling about the new, Sally Hansen Vitamin Lipcare Collection.  Maybe it’s the cool, clear tubes with bright, color coded rings at the base, and matching lip balm stick colors in yellow orange, pink or peach.  Maybe it’s the fruity scents, or the silky feel $4.95 each.  Vita-A Lip Line Smoother is peach flavored, and has a Vitamin A peptide nutrient complex to help smooth lines, VitaB Lip Moisturizer helps dull, dry lips come to life again,. This berry  flavored Pink balm has hylauronic filling spheres that smooth imperfections and a Vitamin Nutrient B complex to boost lip moisture. Orange tinted and flavoured Vita C Lip Plumper has Vitamin Nutrient complex C that is supposed to help stimulate collagen production. And it also has micro spheres that help encourage fuller looking lips.  Vanilla Scented Vita E3 Soother helps stop peeling with a nutrient complex E, that helps to repair rough skin and replenish essential fatty acids, to rejuvenate problem lips and make them smooth and soft.  They’re excellent, and this is one time I’m recommending you get all four – it still will set you back just $20.00 and they do so much, for so little!  You will want one of each. Whatever problem is bothering you most that day is the one you’ll pop into your pocket or purse.  All are powerful healers for so little—how could you choose just one?

Who knew Sally Hansen had such great lip products?  Now, we ALL know!

Nail News from Sally Hansen Part I

Sally Hansen's latest and greatest nail products and colors for Spring/Summer 2011 (photo by Alison Blackman)

Anyone who reads my columns regularly knows that I am a big fan of Sally Hansen products. Not only did I grow up using Sally Hansen's signature product: "Hard As Nails” but in the past few years I’ve learned that Sally Hansen has been the innovator of  a lot of interesting products, for nails, and not just for nails.  They have excellent bodycare and beauty tools, too. At a recent event, I got a chance to look at a lot of new and nifty Sally Hansen products. So many, in fact, that I am breaking this review into three parts. The first, is about what Sally Hansen does so well: nail color.

My favorite, new product from Sally Hansen has got to be Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips (Srp. $9.99).  The peel-and stick strips of real nail polish dress your nails with nail art designs, or solid colors, or even glitter – and it takes just minutes to do all 10 nails.  The DIY kit even comes with a dual-ended emery board and a wooden cuticle stick. It might seem difficult to do both hands but even a clutz can do it (for the step by step directions, read my previous review of these Sally Hansen SalonEffects Real Nail Polish Strips):   I love the fun factor, and they’re great for travel.  A slick of a good top coat (Sally Hansen has several, will keep your nails looking fresh and new, up to a week ! There are  8 new neons, high 5 shine glitters and shimmers, and a whopping, 11 high fashion patterns, aplenty.!  TIP:  Just as you would with any nail polish you’ve applied, add a top coat of clear, high shine polish (Sally Hansen has several good ones) to seal the polish and protect it for longer wear.

If you love nail art, consider this:  you can now create your own, no-two-are-ever-the-same, nail designs, every single time you use polish!  Yes, it's true!   Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat comes in shimmery gold and silver, iridescent purple, hot pink, black and red. Paint it on over a solid nail polish color and the overcoat goes on smooth and opaque, but within seconds it breaks apart on it’s own with a “crackle” effect that looks striking and different on each nail. If you want to see what it looks like, you can get an idea from the "crackle" design on the nail polish cap in my photo.

check out this photo of the nail I painted at the event:
The color combinations are nearly endless, and the effect will be different every time you paint on the overcoat.  Play around!  It’s not just fun, it looks like you spent an entire day at the nail salon, to get these designs painted on.  Only you will know it took literally, seconds!  I honestly don't have a favorite, they are all great, and can truly change the look of your nails. Try a light/dark combo such as the black, Ink Splatter on white or light pink nails, or try white Snow Blast on black or navy nails. Wear metallics with nudes, or hot pink on everything....you can't make a mistake, and they're totally addictive. It is just that much fun to paint one on, and see what develops. New new shades available in June at $5.95 each include:  Snow Blast, Vintage Violet, Fractured Foil, Fuchsia Shock, Distressed Denim, Antiqued Gold, Cherry Smash, and Ink Splatter.  TIP:  the overcoats are matte, seal them with a clear, shiny top coat for longer wear and a great sheen.

For traditionalists who don’t want to bother with a lot of products and aren't into nail designs, will love the exceptional,  Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure $4.75 . It has all the steps of a manicure in one bottle: base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, color, and top coat.  All you have to do is pick one of dozens of chic, runway ready colors and you’re out the door with one coat, or maybe two.  Even the shine is self-renewing!  Sally Hansen nail polish products also nourish your nails, with a patented "Vita-Care Technology"  and they’re Toluene, DBP, and Formaldehyde free. I'm loving the creamy, not-too-bold, "Coral Fever" and the bold but beautiful teal-y blue "Model Behavior," but "Strike a Pose" is an iridescent perle that is perfect for weddings or anytime you need demure (but not dull), nails. The top level of the photo at the top of this post shows the colors designer Tracey Reese designed for Sally Hansen and used in her runway show.

If you want to get out the door super fast, try a nail beauty that gives you literally, a 60-second manicure, courtesy of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Polish.  The colors are trendy, including metallics and surprising blues and yellows.  I love the large brush that lets you swipe on the smooth, opaque color in literally one pass over your nails, and I love the way it lasts for days, too. The exclusive "Flexiglass" complex gives you shine and strength. Apply it in seconds, get gorgeous color and it lasts longer than many salon manicures? It's true! For Summer, 2011, there are eight new, shimmery shades that will available August 2011 for $4.95 each:  Presto Pewter (shimmery silver); Brown Ablaze, Cocoa A Go Go, Quick Brick, Ruby Rush, Grapescape, Teal-y Fast, and Emerald Express.

For those who have nails like mine, that break the moment you look at them, seemingly without doing anything to then, Hard As Nails still is the beloved favorite.  And there is also a polish that protects nails with color as they grow longer and stronger:  Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle.  Available in August 2011 for $5.99 each, these polishes have Sally Hansen’s own nailgrowth miracle salon strength treatment that contains advanced peptide technology, along with keratin, biotin, and Vitamins A, C and E. Nails are purported to grow 30% longer in just five days, Sally Hansen says they guarantee it.  While I can’t say mine grew longer that fast, they did seem to break and peel less and of course, they look beautiful, thanks to eight shades:  Lush Lavender (my favorite for it’s soft, subtle, ladylike look), Polished Pearl, Dreamy Olive, Perfect Peach, Desert Clay, Radiant Red, Plum Parfait and Chocolate Denim.  I can't say I really have a favorite, but "Desert Clay" might be the perfect mauve/pink that flatters everyone.

…believe it or not, there's more!  Sally Hansen’s Extreme Wear Color Collection that debuts July 2011 provides a really long lasting color plus shine polish that benefits nails with Sally Hansen’s hard as nail formula.  Ten colors from, greens, purples and blues, to browns, nudes and pinks, and a number with shimmery and big glittery bits, include:  Teeny Greeny Bikini; Pumpkin Spice; Teal-y Cool; Deep Blue Sea’ Pink-y Ring, Time to Shine; Twinkle; Very Cherry’ Set the Stage, and Midnight Sky. Be patriotic this Summer by alternating nails in shimmery DeepBlue Sea, Very Cherry, and a shimmery white!  I also love "Teal-Y Cool" for it's watercolor sheer teal blue infused with big pieces of holographic blue/green glitter. It reminds me of what a mermaid would pick to dress up her hands and....tail?

This is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to what's new from Sally Hansen. Check out reviews of bodycare and beauty tools, in the next few days.

Sally Hansen Lip Lab-Lovely Lip Treats for Luscious Lips

I never leave the house without at least a couple of lip glosses in my purse, because it's the easiest way to "freshen up" when my energy and image is wilting. But lip glosses aren't just beautifiers anymore, they can also pack in lots of lip-loving pampering and protectants.
Lip Lab by Sally Hansen has a variety of pampering products, some of which treat specific lip challenges, and others offer a good variety of color and shine options. Four items specifically offer treatment at just $9.95 each: Prep & Perfect Lipcare; Overnight Lip Recovery; Lip Fix Lip Repair; and PM Lip Plumper. There are also two Lip Plumping Products ($9.95 each) that offer color as well as volume: Lip Blush Plumping Balm and Gentle Plumping Lip Treatment. For simply beautiful color and shine, two fantastic Lip Glosses $6.95 each, delight: a sparkling Lipnotic Gem Gloss and a Satin Effects Lip Gloss.
Here's a rundown:

Fading & Bleeding: One of the challenges of wearing lip gloss is keeping it on your lips. Prep & Perfect Lipcare locks on lip color and helps prevent it from feathering, bleeding and fading, thanks to a botanical moisture shield that makes a "canvas" if you will, to give the color something smooth to adhere to. It also smoothes, moisturizes and conditions lips, so you have more reasons to use it. Simply stroke the wanded applicator over your bare lips and then swipe on your favorite lipstick or lip gloss. The product feels soft and moisturizing, and your investment of a few seconds before applying your lip color will pay dividends for hours, allowing you to "set it and forget it" when it comes to your lip color.

Lip Lines and Wrinkles: If your lips and the area surrounding them is dry or "maturing," you already know that keeping any lip color from running into the tiny lines and crevices is a challenge. Line Fix Lip Repair can help, with a formula that hydrates and renews lips, and instantly feels in line, so they won't plague you. A high tech marine collagen and sodium hyaluronate (youth-boosting ingredients) helps protect against moisture loss in a unique, clear, odorless gel delivered in a "dial-up" silvery pen. used regularly, the tiny lines look and feel less prominent. Keep one at your desk and "dial up" moisture, often TIP: use this before applying your lip color as well as the Prep & Perfect, for impressive results.

Dy, Cracked Lips: If your lips are very dry, you can undo some of the damage while you sleep and wake up to smoother lips by using Overnight Lip Recovery. All it takes is seconds. Simply apply the the clear, odorless treatment (dispensed from a cool-looking silvery slant-tipped tube). This intensive lip treatment (with a slight, minty scent) has oligopeptides (to boost lip fullness) Vitamins A, C and E, and yucca, to help deal with disasters such as dry and peeling lips. It hydrates and heals, then protects against future moisture loss. My dry lips felt softer, and continued to feel moist the next day.

Plumper Lips: You can also sleep your way to plumper lips with PM Lip Plumper. A 24-hour time-released retinol & peptide complex actually helps to turn back the signs of aging, while collagen boosts moisture and offers plumping benefits. The slightly vanilla-y overnight plumping formula is fragrance and irritant-free, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist tested. This does help give the appearance of poutier lips, but unlike a lot of lip plumpers, it won't tingle too much, so you can sleep without disturbance. It comes in a blue squeeze tube with a pointy, silver cap. Use it every evening before you go to bed or whenever you really feel like it. You may not see instant results, but after continued use, Advice Sisters reviewers reported lips looked more youthful. You may not be able to completely turn back the hands of time, but if you're spending a lot of time in the sun this Summer, and/or you're over a certain age, every little bit helps.

Sally Hansen doesn't scrimp on the glam factor in their lip glosses, either. The Gentle Plumping Lip Treatment comes in six easy-to-wear, super-shiny, sheer colors that offer just a hint of tint: "Tender" (shimmery rose); "Serene" (sheer berry); "Happy" (shimmery light pink); "Playful" (shimmery peach) and "Tease" (shimmery nude); and "Clear." The silky, gel gloss is gorgeous! The light-reflecting properties of the gloss, plus a peptide complex and time-released hydrospheres make lips look fresh, full, and pouty-- without pain. And the packaging has a tiny oval mirror right on the tube, so you can see what you're doing without funbling for a mirror--a nice little touch.
The Sally Hansen Lip Blush Plumping Balm also help plump up lips with a slightly tingly, clear, super-shiny gel gloss that is dispensed from a soft-sided squeeze tube with a brush tip (nice touch). After the gloss is glowing on your lips, making them look pouty, the color develops to a sheer, pink gloss. Unlike some of these "mood" glosses that are activated by your unique body chemistry, this one appears to stay rosy, not garish--and that's great. But that's not all: The formula has peptides and marine-filling spheres that enhance the plumping effect, plus natural antioxidants that help condition dry and/or thin lips. Color, condition and plumping all in one easy-to-use-tube makes this a "must-have" in your purse.
The Satin Effects Lip Gloss gives you even more pampering color options. This wanded tube of gloss comes in a slim-slant-tipped squeeze tube, dispensing a silky, pearly, blendable color gloss that you can slick on almost sheer, or add more for nearly metallic and super-shiny color. There are ten colors with sexy names like "Seduction" (rosed-copper); "Pleasure" (light peachy-pink), "Romantic" (shimmery bronze); and "Intrigue" (red/rose).
I love shimmery lip glosses for their light, reflecting, lip-enhancing properties, so I've saved my favorite Sally Hansen Lip Gloss review for last: The Lipnotic Gem Gloss is a fantastic, super-shiny, super-sexy, glittery gem of a product that comes in a slim, wanded tube. These sheer glosses give your lips a wet and glassy finish that actually hydrates and softens, with sunflower seed oil, minerals, and vitamins. The effect off this super-sheer, super-shiny, gloss is dazzling. If your lips are in good shape (thanks to the Sally Hansen products I mentioned above) these glosses are "trés Jolie" (as in "pretty" and "Angelina"). If your lips aren't quite what you'd like, these glosses do what "soft touch" does for photographs...dull the rough edges so all you see is beauty. They're so inexpensive, but so amazingly great! There's "Precious" (clear) " to wear alone or enhance virtually any other lip color (I like mine with dark colors for night-time glam without glitter) and nine other color including: "Bling Bling" (berry), "Lavish" (plum-so "in" right now) and "Treasure" (a perfect, sheer pink).
What's exceptional about these Sally Hansen products is that not a thing will set you back more than the cost of a sandwich and soda, but they will help your lips look like a million. Mine were so improved after just trying these products to write this review for you, I am hooked. Value and effective products are even more welcome in these economic times.
